Scott Weiland, known for being the frontman of the Stone Temple Pilots, has passed away at the age of 48. The singer, who struggled with addiction for a number of years, died in his sleep of cardiac arrest.
Weiland had told USA TODAY in 2011 that he wanted to be known for more than his wild lifestyle.
“People have this misconception about me,” he said. “…I struggled with heroin and cocaine and I was a big rock star. But music is not what defines me. I’m a brother, a father, a son and a person who’s been in love with very few women.”
The Stone Temple Pilots broke up in 2003.
